47 High School Global Studies students visit the
Museum of
Natural History in NYC
Social Studies
teachers Jamie Maholchic and Diane Steele planned the trip to give
students the opportunity to view the many exciting exhibits at
the museum that directly relate to the Global
Studies classroom.
The students attended an amazing
planetarium show entitled Cosmic Collisions, which made them feel
like they were flying through space and witnessing celestial
bodies colliding with one another. They also viewed many of the
museum’s exhibits, including animals from all over the world,
artifacts from ancient cultures and the students’ favorite,
dinosaur skeletons.
Teachers Betty Moubray, Erika Kwasnik and Matt Maholchic also went
along to help keep track of the students in the 5-story museum.
The students and teachers all had a fantastic time learning and
having fun.
Making College and Career
Count
As a part of our efforts to prepare seniors for future success, the Student Services
Department is pleased to offer a presentation that can play an important role
in the process. Making College and Career Count, a practical, current look at
succeeding after high school, will be presented in the Norwich High School Auditorium
on Wednesday, May 28 at 9:00 a.m.
We would like to invite senior students and their parent/guardians to attend
this dynamic presentation. Parents across the nation have found the program to
provide a very helpful perspective on what their students will experience and
have become better able to assist them by attending the presentation.
Making College and Career Count offers valuable
perspective to students on how to:
• set and achieve personal success goals;
• manage finances and avoid the pitfalls of credit card debt;
• manage time and set priorities;
• utilize internships and other jobs to build critical skills; and
• choose an appropriate career path by evaluating strengths, interests
and the future job market.
The program shares the national success statistics for today’s
students and stresses that every individual’s post high school
experience
is unique. It shares fundamentals for success—things many
college students know by senior year but wish they had understood
earlier in the process.
There is no fee to attend the presentation. If you have any questions,
please contact Student Services at 334-1600, ext. 1037.
If you would like to learn more about this program, you may also
visit the Making It Count website at www.makingitcount.com. We
look forward to seeing you at the presentation.
