PTA/PTSA NEWS

The Perry Browne PTA is excited to hold a Cherrydale fund raiser this fall. Students will be bringing packets home on October 1. The sale is from October 1 through October 15. The PTA has lots of exciting programs planned for your students this year. In order to hold these events, we need to raise money through this fund raiser. Your help is appreciated. We’ll be happy to answer any questions about our fund raiser. Please
feel free to contact PTA President Victoria Mitchell at 336-7903.

There’s a simple way for you to help your child and your school succeed: Join PTSA. You’ll belong to a community of parents and students committed to their children's and class mates well-being and to improving school performance.


What is Your Role?


As a Parent...

  • Participate in PTSA activities, meetings, conferences, and workshops.
  • Serve on committees studying local issues and make recommendations.
  • Volunteer to help...in the classroom, in the library, during a fundraiser.
  • Attend school board meetings, learn how the public schools function, and how you can help and share in decision making.
  • Learn about community resources and how PTSA can work with them.

As a Teacher...

  • Participate in PTSA activities, meetings, conferences, and workshops.
  • Serve on PTSA committees. Make parents feel a part of all school activities.
  • Use PTSA volunteers to enrich classroom activities. Utilize the talents and abilities of parents by involving them.
  • Make parents feel a part of all school activities.

  • Learn about PTSA program and projects.

As a student…

  • Participate in PTSA activities and meetings.
  • Publicize PTSA activities in student publications.

  • Encourage parents, classmates and teachers to become PTSA members.
  • Apply for scholarships.


The PTA:

  • Is the largest child advocacy volunteer association in America.
  • Is a nonprofit education organization seeking to unite home, school and community on behalf of children and youth.
  • Collaborates with community agencies on behalf of all children.
  • Works tirelessly for children’s education, health and safety.

Who belongs?

In New York, over 380,000 parents, teachers, grandparents, students, caregivers, community members, school and government officials belong. All are welcome to be members and membership in the Norwich Middle & High School PTSA automatically gives you membership in the State and National PTA.

Norwich PTSA Accomplishments:

  • Fund guest speakers for Middle and High School Students.
  • Offer teacher grants.
  • Provide welcome gifts to incoming freshman.
  • Operate a concession stand at home football games.
  • Recognize outstanding community volunteers.
  • Award scholarships to graduating seniors.
  • Offers parents information and resources.
